Winter has arrived in Ellsworth, and with it comes our annual Winter Parking Ban, declared by the Public Works Department and in place now through April 1. And yes, we promise the April 1 date is no joke!
To help our crews safely and efficiently remove snow, parking is restricted from midnight to 6 am every day. During these hours, vehicles may only park in the designated green area shown on the parking map below: the center parking spaces in the Lower City Hall parking lot. These spaces remain available overnight.
🚫 Where You Can’t Park
During the winter parking ban, especially during snow removal operations, vehicles cannot be parked:
- On public streets
- Along public ways
- In City-owned parking areas (except the center spaces noted above and shown on the map below)
Cars left in prohibited areas during snow operations will be ticketed and may be towed at the owner’s expense, at the discretion of the Ellsworth Police Department. Also, if the vehicle is in the way of snow removal it will be towed.
🌨️ What to Expect
From 12 midnight to 6 am every day until April 1, 2026, the rules are fully enforced. Our Police Department has begun placing reminder notices on vehicles to help residents get into the winter routine before tickets and towing begin.

REMINDER/WARNING
This vehicle has been parked in violation of the City of Ellsworth’s Overnight Parking Ban, which is in place from November 1st to April 1st during the hours of midnight to 6:00 a.m.
Details of this parking ban can be found on the City of Ellsworth’s Face Book page or at the City’s website.
In the future, parking tickets will be issued for this violation.
Please note, during the event of a storm or a predicted storm, vehicles in violation may be ticketed AND towed to optimize snow removal.
