8/9/2022 8:16AM: Due to a failed culvert, Shore Road will be CLOSED to through traffic from Pond Ave to Forrest Ave while public works crews work to replace it. This is in the vicinity of the Ellsworth Elementary Middle School. We estimate the road will be closed for the next day or two.

The State of Maine Referendum and City of Ellsworth Municipal Elections will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021

At this time, both in-person and absentee voting will be available for the November 2, 2021 election.

Absentee ballots may be requested in writing, by phone, online, or in person up to and including October 28, 2021, without specifying a reason. Please note that we are not able to accept absentee ballot requests by email. However, if you are asking to receive your ballot by mail, please request it early enough to allow for postal mail delivery time – both to receive it and return it (2-5 days each way).

Returning ballots through the mail does require postage (up to 2 stamps). There will also be a drop box for returning ballots located in the Church Street entrance lobby of Ellsworth City Hall for ballots being cast by Ellsworth residents or Fletcher’s Landing Township voters. By calling 207-669-6604 you may also make arrangements to personally deliver your ballot to a member of the City Clerk Department Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

• You can request an absentee ballot by calling your Municipal Clerk’s office at 669-6604.
• You can request an absentee ballot online or by mail from the Secretary of State’s website:

• Absentee ballot requests are being accepted right now. Printed ballots will be available starting October 4, and we will issue your ballot as soon as possible after that date.
• Ballots must be returned to the municipal clerk no later than 8:00 PM on Election Day (11/2/2021).
