Ellsworth Celebrates Volunteers Following Community Recognition at City Council Meeting
Ellsworth, Maine — The City of Ellsworth proudly recognized its Volunteer of the Year, Rain Perez, and Volunteer Business of the Year, Franklin Savings Bank, during a special presentation at the start of the April 20, 2026, City Council meeting. The moment served not only as a celebration of these two honorees, but also as a broader reflection of the many individuals and organizations who contribute to Ellsworth’s strong sense of community.
Perez was recognized for her ongoing commitment to volunteer service across multiple organizations, while Franklin Savings Bank was honored for its consistent support of local initiatives, events, and community programs.
As part of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, the City is also shining a light on the collective influence of volunteerism throughout Ellsworth, especially the efforts of local groups like the Ellsworth Moose Lodge.
Led by members including Bill Nelson and Anthony Wyman, the Moose Lodge continues to play a vital role in supporting community initiatives, from organizing volunteer efforts to stepping up for events and projects that bring people together.
“Bill, Anthony, and the entire Moose Lodge team embody what it means to show up for your community,” said Amy Kenney, Director of Communications for the City of Ellsworth. “Their generosity, leadership, and willingness to step in wherever help is needed make a lasting difference in Ellsworth.”
Their work reflects a broader spirit seen across the city, namely neighbors helping neighbors, often quietly, but always meaningfully. “This week, and moments like Monday night’s presentation remind us just how many people are working behind the scenes to make Ellsworth the place it is,” Kenney added. “We are grateful for every volunteer who gives their time, energy, and heart to this community.”
