The Ellsworth Police Department is reminding everyone to make safe choices behind the wheel as officers participate in a regional OUI enforcement effort this weekend.
The Ellsworth Police Department is partnering with the Maine Bureau of Highway Safety and neighboring law enforcement agencies as part of the District 7 RIDE Team to conduct an Operating Under the Influence (OUI) enforcement detail in Ellsworth over the weekend of July 31 – August 2, 2026.
Officers from the Bar Harbor Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, and Southwest Harbor Police Department will join Ellsworth officers in a coordinated effort to identify and remove impaired drivers from our roadways. The goal of the enforcement detail is simple: to help keep everyone safe.
If your weekend plans include gathering with family or friends, please plan ahead before getting behind the wheel.
- Designate a sober driver.
- Use a rideshare or taxi.
- Stay where you are if you’ve been drinking.
- Help friends and family make safe choices, too.
