The City of Ellsworth Police Department seeks an enthusiastic professional to serve as dispatcher for the Police Department, Fire Department and rescue service. Successful candidate must perform a variety of highly responsible tasks often involving emergency situations.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Receiving calls, alarms and radio messages and responding by sending appropriate personnel and equipment to locations as necessary. Calls are often of an emergency nature and must be dealt with in a calm and efficient manner;
• Maintains daily log of all calls and radio transmissions;
• Receives all visitors to the department, provides assistance, or re-directs to the appropriate department member;
• Retrieves information for officers in the field and assists in preparation of police reports;
• Handles incoming calls for various public safety agencies and dispatches mutual aid situations through the county.
Applicants for the position must meet the following requirements; be a U.S. Citizen, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 20 years old, be of unimpeachable character (never convicted of any felony or any crime involving moral turpitude, or be a habitual traffic violator), have the ability to use computers and radios.

Preference will be given to applicants who have prior dispatch experience and/or have Limited Access and Certified Terminal Operator Certification.
