If you’ve picked up your desk phone lately, you’ve probably noticed something a little different!
Thanks to the hard work of Jason and Nate in the IT Department, the City has successfully transitioned to a new phone system serving City Hall, the Union River Center for Innovation (URCI), Harbor Park, the Water Department, and the Wastewater Department.
The new system modernizes how we communicate, simplifies call routing, and provides an improved experience for both staff and the residents we serve. As with any major technology upgrade, there were many moving pieces behind the scenes, and thanks to careful planning and teamwork, the transition went smoothly.
A Few Reminders
- If you have both a new and an old Panasonic phone, please unplug the old phone and bring both the phone and cable to the IT Office when you have a spare moment.
- If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to watch Nate’s phone training videos—especially the Voicemail Settings video—and be sure to record your mailbox name so callers know they’ve reached the correct extension.
- Additional phone training resources are also available if you’d like to learn more about the features of the new system.

A huge thank you to Jason and Nate for leading this project. Implementing a new phone system across multiple City facilities is no small task, and we appreciate the planning, patience, and support they provided to make the transition a success.
As always, if you have questions or need assistance, the IT team is happy to help.
One more thing before we go … Did you see Ebony’s email on June 25, 2026 about the new phone list? She mentions that any cell phone numbers on the list are not to be shared with the public, unless you have permission from the owner of the cell phone. Click the link below for the new list.
