With dangerously cold temperatures expected, please know there are warming resources available in our area.
If you or someone you know needs a warm place to go during this extreme cold, local warming centers and emergency shelters may be available. INSPIRE Recovery Community Center, 24 Church St, Ellsworth, is open seven nights a week 5:30 pm to 7am and weekend days from 8 am to 4pm. They also serve supper every night. Availability can change based on conditions and capacity.
We encourage residents to call Maine 2-1-1 for the most up-to-date information on warming centers and cold-weather assistance.
Please check on neighbors, friends, and family … especially older adults, those without reliable heat, or anyone experiencing housing insecurity. Extreme cold can be dangerous, and staying connected can save lives.
Stay warm and stay safe, Ellsworth. 💙❄️
