Ellsworth Moose Lodge Leads Trail Clean-Up Effort, Inspires Community Participation

Community volunteers partner with City to care for the Ellsworth Rail Trail

ELLSWORTH, Maine — The City of Ellsworth is proud to highlight a community-led effort by the Ellsworth Moose Lodge, whose members will be cleaning the Ellsworth Rail Trail on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at 12:00 p.m.

This popular trail, which connects downtown Ellsworth to Ellsworth Falls, has accumulated litter and debris over the winter months. In partnership with the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, members of the Moose Lodge are stepping up to restore and care for this well-loved community space.

“Volunteering, especially through trail cleanup, plays a vital role in strengthening a community,” said Anthony Wyman, President of the Ellsworth Moose Lodge. “When people come together to care for shared spaces, it builds pride, connection, and a common commitment to preserving our community for future generations.”

The Moose Lodge has a long-standing tradition of giving back, and this effort is just one of several community projects they have planned in the months ahead.

“This is what makes Ellsworth so special,” said Amy Kenney, Director of Communications for the City of Ellsworth. “Groups like the Moose Lodge don’t just talk about community—they show up for it. Their willingness to give their time and support efforts like our upcoming Citywide Clean-Up Week is something we are incredibly grateful for.”

The City’s Citywide Roadside Clean-Up Week, taking place April 18–25, invites residents to take part in keeping Ellsworth clean and welcoming. Volunteers can pick up yellow trash bags at City Hall beginning April 13 and place filled bags curbside for collection during the event week, but not before Saturday, April 18.

The Moose Lodge has also committed to assisting with the collection of trash bags during Clean-Up Week, further demonstrating their dedication to the community.

Residents interested in volunteering—either for this trail clean-up or future efforts—are encouraged to contact the Ellsworth Moose Lodge at 207-664-5199.

Together, these efforts reflect the spirit of Ellsworth: neighbors helping neighbors and taking pride in the place we all call home.
