The Ellsworth Arbor Commission will have a special meeting on Thursday, September 19th at 3PM at the University of Maine Extension in Ellsworth for a special presentation on Beech Leaf Disease. Dr. Matthew Borden, DPM from Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories in Charlotte, NC is a plant pathologist who will be speaking on Beech Leaf Disease, what it is, what treatments are available, and when it’s a good option for home and landowners to utilize this treatment. The Arbor Commission looks forward to hosting this event and educating the community about what is happening to our trees.

Dr. Matthew Borden is a plant pathologist at the Bartlett Tree Research Laboratories in Charlotte, NC. Matt also has practical experience in orchard and botanical garden pest management, plant problem diagnostics, and writing for Fine Gardening magazine. He gained a deep appreciation for integrated pest management while at Virginia Tech, followed by studies in landscape health and sustainable management strategies at the University of Florida.
