The Ellsworth Arbor Commission invites the community to celebrate Arbor Day at a special event on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Moore Community Center. This evening will feature light refreshments, opportunities for community connection, and an inspiring talk by James Kaechele, Development Director of the New York Tree Trust and ISA Board Certified Master Arborist.
The event will begin with refreshments and informal networking from 5:30 to 6 p.m., followed by James Kaechele’s presentation from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with time for Q&A to follow.
With over a decade of experience connecting people with trees—from New York City streets to backyard gardens—Kaechele will share how urban forestry programs like the New York Tree Trust are transforming neighborhoods through tree planting, stewardship, and public-private partnerships. His work in NYC has brought together city officials, businesses, and residents to create greener, more livable streets, and his stories will offer valuable insight into how Ellsworth might do the same.
This event also serves as the kickoff fundraiser for the creation of a Tree Trust here in Ellsworth. A local tree trust would provide a lasting and community-supported mechanism for planting and protecting trees across our city. Funds raised will go toward improving Ellsworth’s canopy, creating long-term maintenance support, and empowering residents to become stewards of our urban forest.
