Upcoming – Surry Road (Rt. 172) Water Main Replacement
Starting next week, a water main replacement project will begin along Surry Road. This infrastructure upgrade will improve water service reliability and reduce the risk of future main breaks.
Project Details:
- Location: The project will begin at the Bridge Hill intersection (convergence of Surry Road and Bucksport Road) and extend to approximately 148 Surry Rd.
- Scope of Work: Crews will be excavating along the shoulder and, at times, into the roadway and adjacent streets to replace water lines.
- Timeline: Construction is expected to continue through August, with potential to extend into September.
- Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Traffic Impacts:
- Expect single-lane closures, alternating traffic, and flaggers in place to direct vehicles safely through the work zone.
- Delays are likely, especially during peak commute hours. Please plan accordingly and consider alternate routes when possible.
Informational Session:
- April 30, 2025 at 6PM in the City Hall Council Chamber.
- Opportunity for the public to ask questions about the project.
