The City of Ellsworth completed the recount of the November 4, 2025 Municipal Election on Friday, November 14. The recount process began with a thorough review of all state ballots to confirm that no municipal ballots had been inadvertently mixed in; none were found.
Election staff then conducted a detailed review of every municipal ballot across all four wards. After a careful and transparent recount, the final tally counts are below.
The City of Ellsworth is pleased to confirm the election of Patrick Shea, Carol Patterson-Martineau, and Marinna Smith to the three open seats on the Ellsworth City Council.
The City extends its appreciation to the election clerks, staff, and volunteers whose diligence and commitment ensured a smooth and accurate recount process.
Charlie Pearce, City Manager, noted, “I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the candidates and their teams – those who won and those who didn’t – for their dedication, patience, and hard work throughout this election. The spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect displayed during the recount, where just four votes separated three candidates vying for two seats, is a credit to the city of Ellsworth and to our democratic process.”
Tina Vanadestine, Deputy City Clerk, wants all to know, “I want to recognize our incredible staff who worked tirelessly to ensure that this recount went smoothly. Their care and professionalism guarantee that every vote was counted accurately, and that the citizens of Ellsworth can have complete confidence in the fairness of our elections.”
Patrick Lyons, Council Chair, exclaimed, “Thank you to everyone who voted. This election is a vivid reminder of how every single vote counts and the importance of participating in local government. Ellsworth’s commitment to collaboration, civility, and democracy was on full display, and I am grateful to be part of a community that values and upholds these principles.”
