As the days grow longer and temperatures begin to rise, we know many in our community are looking forward to getting back out on the water. The City of Ellsworth is getting ready right alongside you.
During the week of April 13, 2026, our crews will begin working to install the boat launches and docks at both Green Lake and Branch Lake, helping prepare for the start of the boating season.
Early season boating can be beautiful, but it comes with colder water and changing conditions. Before you head out, a few quick spring boating safety tips:
- Wear a life jacket — Cold water temperatures can be dangerous, even on warmer days
- Check your boat and motor — Make sure everything is in working order after the winter months
- Be mindful of cold water — Hypothermia can happen quickly this time of year
- Bring a charged phone or communication device — Always have a way to call for help
- Watch conditions and other boaters — Spring weather can change quickly; stay alert and aware
As always, we encourage everyone to enjoy the water safely and look out for one another as the season gets underway.
We’ll see you out there soon.
