If your travels take you along Route 1 – from Orland/Ellsworth town line to Christian Ridge Road – next week, here’s a quick heads-up.
Beginning Monday, July 6, 2026, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will begin crack sealing work on Route 1 from the Ellsworth city line to Christian Ridge Road.
🚧 What to expect:
- Work will begin each day at 7:00 a.m.
- Traffic will be reduced to one lane with alternating traffic while crews are working.
- The project is expected to take approximately one week, weather permitting.
- MaineDOT’s contractor will begin placing advance warning signs later this week.
Crack sealing is an important part of road maintenance. By sealing small cracks before they grow, MaineDOT helps extend the life of the roadway and reduce the need for larger repairs down the road.
If you’re traveling through the area next week, please allow a little extra time, follow posted signs, and use caution around work crews.
