Every day, the team at the Ellsworth Transfer Station helps residents unload recyclables, answer questions, and keep one of the City’s busiest facilities running smoothly. In late July 2026, their hard work was recognized in a way that meant a great deal to all of us.

A resident called City Hall recently with one simple purpose: to say thank you.

“I wanted to tell you how delightful the people up at the transfer station are when I take my trash out there, my recycle stuff and newspaper. I think it’s about time somebody knew how polite they are when I call and when I am there in person.”

There was no complaint to resolve. No question to answer. Just a few thoughtful words recognizing a team that consistently goes above and beyond. Customer service often happens in small moments—a friendly greeting, answering a question with patience, or lending a hand when it’s needed most. Those moments may seem routine to the employees providing them, but they can leave a lasting impression on the people they serve.

To the entire Transfer Station team, thank you for representing the City of Ellsworth with professionalism, kindness, and respect every day.

And to the resident who took a few minutes to make that call—thank you. Your words reminded us that taking the time to recognize great service can make someone’s day.
