If Thursday night’s kickoff (Thursday, July 23, 2026) to the Downtown Summer Concert Series was any indication, downtown Ellsworth is in for a fantastic summer.
The Franklin Street Parklet came alive with great music, smiling faces, families, neighbors, and, perhaps best of all … plenty of dancing. From the first notes to the final song, The Mallett Brothers Band gave the crowd a memorable evening and a wonderful start to the City’s first Downtown Summer Concert Series.
One song in particular struck a chord with me. Growing up on a farm, I remember haying season well, and hearing The Mallett Brothers Band sing about making hay while the sun shines brought back a lot of memories. It also felt like a fitting reminder that summer in Maine is something to enjoy while it’s here. We have a short season, and these Thursday evenings are a perfect opportunity to slow down, gather with friends, and enjoy our beautiful downtown.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who joined us for opening night. Whether you danced in front of the stage, visited a downtown restaurant, or simply enjoyed the music from the sidelines, you helped make the evening something special.
Events like these don’t happen without an incredible team effort.
