City of Ellsworth Announces Volunteer Appreciation Week Award Recipients: Ellsworth Celebrates Community Spirit with First Volunteer Appreciation Awards

Ellsworth, Maine – In celebration of National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 19–25, 2026), the City of Ellsworth is proud to recognize two outstanding contributors whose service helps strengthen the community.

Rain Perez has been named the City’s Volunteer of the Year. Perez is widely recognized for her dedication to community service, including her weekly volunteer work in the children’s room at the Ellsworth Public Library. She also serves as a Library Trustee, supports Friends of the Library book sales, and volunteers with organizations including Ellsworth Rainbow Girls and Ellsworth Pride.

As a young professional who generously gives her time and energy to multiple community organizations, Perez represents the spirit of civic engagement and the next generation of community leadership in Ellsworth.

The City has also named Franklin Savings Bank as the Volunteer Business of the Year. The bank has been a strong supporter of community events, including Heart of Ellsworth activities and programming in the Franklin Street Parklet, while also investing in local scholarships and initiatives that support businesses, students, and residents across the community.

“These honorees represent the very best of Ellsworth’s community spirit,” said City Manager Charlie Pearce. “Their generosity, leadership, and commitment to giving back help make Ellsworth the vibrant and welcoming city we are proud to call home.”

“Community is what moves Ellsworth forward,” said Amy Kenney, Director of Communications for the City of Ellsworth. “This is the first year we are recognizing volunteers in this way, and the response was incredible. Every person and organization nominated is truly a superstar in our community. Rain Perez and Franklin Savings Bank shone especially bright this year, and we are proud to celebrate the spirit of service they represent.”

Both awards will be presented during the Ellsworth City Council Meeting on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 6 pm.
