As another beautiful Maine summer comes to a close, it’s time for our Parks & Recreation team to begin preparing Ellsworth’s parks for the colder months ahead. Beginning Sunday, October 18, 2026, seasonal facilities at City parks will be closed for the season, including park restrooms.
But that doesn’t mean you have to stop enjoying our parks! 🍂 Our parks and trails remain available for walking, exploring and enjoying the views. Just remember that restroom facilities will no longer be available after October 18. But there will be a port-a-pottie available at Knowlton Park beginning Monday, October 19, 2026 and will remain in place through the winter months.
We hope our residents and visitors made some wonderful memories in Ellsworth’s parks this summer … whether it was a walk along the water, an afternoon at the playground, a picnic with family, a hike on the trails or simply finding a quiet place to enjoy being outside.
And we want to give a big THANK YOU to our City of Ellsworth Parks & Recreation team. Keeping our parks welcoming, clean and ready for thousands of visits throughout the season takes a tremendous amount of work, much of it happening behind the scenes. Thank you for another great season!
The temperatures may be dropping, but there is still plenty of beauty to enjoy outdoors in Ellsworth. 🍁
