March 12th, 2024

On Monday, March 11th, 2024, the City Council convened in executive session to address confidential personnel matters. Upon exiting the executive session, the Council then voted 6-0 to terminate Glenn Moshier as Chief of Police for the City of Ellsworth. City Councilor Tammy Mote was absent.

City Council subsequently voted 6-0 to appoint Deputy Police Chief Troy Bires as Interim Chief of Police.

Glenn Moshier is still on paid administrative leave from the City Manager position, this was not changed by the decision of last evening. Matthew Williams will continue to serve as the interim City Manager until Charles Pearce commences the position on April 1st, pending contract ratification at the March 18th City Council meeting.

Due to state law restrictions, both the City Council and the City are unable to disclose specifics about the confidential personnel discussions.

The City Council has further prepared a letter to address the transition while maintaining and respecting legal rights and privacy of City staff. This letter is available to read on the City of Ellsworth website.
