The City of Ellsworth is pleased to share that in December 2025, we received a three-year technical assistance grant from the Reconnecting Communities Institute (RCI), a USDOT-supported organization helping communities improve transportation planning and connectivity.

This grant will focus on High Street, one of Ellsworth’s most congested corridors, and will support:
• Multimodal improvements such as wider sidewalks, improved crosswalks, pedestrian lighting, and “share the road” markings
• Adaptive traffic signal timing to improve pedestrian safety and ease congestion
• Better access to housing and jobs through additional transit stops along the corridor

The City’s Economic Development and Planning Departments will lead this effort, with support from the Communications Department.
