The Ellsworth Housing Authority Board of Commissioners has two vacancies. Both seats will be ready for occupancy as of January 1st, 2018. One term will run from January 1, 2018 – 2023 (5 year term) The second available term will expire on 1/1/2019 and then that candidate would be eligible for a complete 5 year term following that if the arrangement was successful. Current Commissioners seek engaged, committed and community minded individuals to round out their Board.
Prospective candidates must be residents of the City of Ellsworth and able to attend one meeting per month (in Ellsworth) that lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Previous general knowledge of Board and Committee dynamics and Robert’s Rules of Order are helpful, but not required. Training materials will be provided.
The Ellsworth Housing Authority is part of the MDI & Ellsworth Housing Authorities. The Housing Authorities provides affordable housing through two programs that are subsidized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Public Housing Program, and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. The MDI & Ellsworth’ Housing Authorities’ jurisdiction is Hancock County.
The Ellsworth Housing Authority Board of Commissioners sets and champions the Mission of the Public Housing Authority, or “PHA” and monitors and provides oversight re:
• the agency’s ability to conform to and meet policy, statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations
• the financial solvency of and the financial integrity of the PHA
Seat A: New appointment, four years, January 2018 to January 2022.
Seat B: Current seat, vacated prior to term expiration, one year left, January 2018 to January 2019, with the possibility for reappointment.
