NOTICE from Brookfield Renewable
At the request of the City of Ellsworth, Black Bear Hydro Partners, LLC (Black Bear), a Brookfield Renewable Company, intends to lower the elevation of the Ellsworth impoundment (Leonard Lake) by approximately two feet beginning the week of September 23, 2019. The drawdown is being conducted to accommodate the removal of Branch Lake Stream Dam, which empties into the Ellsworth impoundment. Although the drawdown is expected to last about a week, Black Bear will assist this effort by keeping
the impoundment lowered until the dam removal work is completed. During the drawdown, operational procedures will be put in place to accommodate downstream fish passage and to meet minimum flow requirements. The drawdown is being conducted in consultation with state and federal resource agencies.
