Ellsworth, Maine — The City of Ellsworth is pleased to share a new community-focused initiative led by Bill Nelson and Anthony Wyman of the Ellsworth Moose Lodge #2698, aimed at strengthening volunteer support across the city.
Bill Nelson and Anthony Wyman are organizing a Volunteer Pool that will serve as a ready list of community members willing to lend a hand when help is needed. When the City of Ellsworth or other organizations are seeking volunteers for projects or events, they can reach out to Bill or Tony to connect with individuals who are eager to help.
The Moose Lodge is expanding its role in the community, with a particular focus on supporting children and Ellsworth’s aging population. By creating a centralized volunteer list, the Lodge hopes to make it easier and faster to match willing volunteers with meaningful opportunities.
“Many people want to help but aren’t always sure where opportunities exist,” said William Nelson. “This volunteer pool is a way to bridge that gap and make it simpler for people to get involved.”
Anthony Wyman emphasized the community-driven spirit behind the effort. “Ellsworth has always been a place where neighbors step up for one another,” said Wyman. “This volunteer pool is about harnessing that goodwill and making sure people who want to help know they’re needed and appreciated. We welcome anyone who’s interested to reach out and be part of it.”
City Manager Charlie Pearce welcomed the initiative, noting the value of community-driven partnerships.
“This is exactly the kind of grassroots effort that strengthens a community,” said Pearce. “The Moose Lodge’s willingness to step forward and help organize volunteers makes it easier for the City to respond when help is needed, and it gives residents a clear pathway to get involved. We’re grateful for their leadership and commitment to Ellsworth.”
In addition to the volunteer pool, the Moose Lodge has established a community bulletin board at their location to highlight volunteer opportunities and community efforts, helping spread the word and encourage participation.
The City of Ellsworth appreciates the Moose Lodge’s commitment to civic engagement and looks forward to working together to support community projects and initiatives.
