Frenchman Bay Regional Shellfish Conservation Ordinance
Shellfish Licenses
Resident commercial shellfish licenses will be on sale beginning Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Ellsworth City Clerks Office at 1 City Hall Plaza, Ellsworth, Maine. These licenses will be sold to residents of Trenton, Hancock, Sullivan, Franklin, Sorrento, Lamoine and Ellsworth on an unlimited basis.
Non-resident commercial license holders who currently hold a Frenchman Bay Regional Shellfish Conservation shellfish license must renew their license before July 1, 2020or they are disqualified, lose seniority, and are ineligible until the 2021 drawing. Any non-resident commercial shellfish harvesting licenses that are not renewed between June 17, 2020 and June 30, 2020 will be offered for sale to a person on the waiting list only when the number of those licenses is less than 10% of the resident commercial licenses issued, consistent with the Frenchman Bay Regional Shellfish Program 2020 License Sales and Lottery Procedure.
Applications for the 2020-2021 non-resident commercial license lottery must be received by the Administrative Municipality (City of Ellsworth) no later than 5 PM on June 1, 2020. Postmarks will not be accepted. The lottery will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Ellsworth City Hall.
A copy of the Annual Shellfish License Allocation Plan is available for review at Ellsworth City Hall during normal business hours.
All recreational licenses will be available starting Wednesday June 17, 2020 on an unlimited basis to both residents and nonresidents and are not effective until July 1, 2020. Recreational licenses will be available at all of the participating municipalities, subject to their individual Town Office hours.
