On this day, we pause to remember the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, and pay tribute to the brave first responders who gave their all and those who were lost. As a symbol of resilience and strength, we have a piece of the steel from the World Trade Center on display in the Ellsworth Fire Department. This steel serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made and the unity that emerged from the ashes. You may visit the Fire Department if you would like to remember, reflect, and honor the sacrifices made and lives lost.

Steel beam and memorial in the Ellsworth Fire Department, September 2023. The section of steel is a section of I-beam, one inch thick, roughly 7-feet long, and weighs approximately 400-lbs. It has been stamped with inventory number H-92a. It is in its natural state with no modifications other than where it was cut and sectioned to make the piece more manageable by the WTC Artifacts Program of the New York & New Jersey Port Authority.
