Ellsworth Featured on WERU’s “Talk of the Towns” May 13, 2026
Ellsworth’s story is heading to the airwaves. Recently, local leaders and partners joined WERU Community Radio’s Talk of the Towns to share how historic preservation is helping shape the future of our community.
The episode “Historic Preservation as an Engine for Building Community” features conversations with:
- Cara Romano, Executive Director of Heart of Ellsworth
- Carla Haskell, architect and member of the Ellsworth Historic Preservation Commission
- Additional voices from across Maine working in preservation and community development
Together, they explore how projects here in Ellsworth, from Museum in the Streets, to the preservation of the Old Jail, to the recent National Register designation of our downtown district are doing more than honoring the past. They’re helping build a stronger, more connected future.
The conversation also highlights ongoing work to better understand and activate downtown spaces, including efforts focused on housing and revitalization.
