Have ideas about recreation in Ellsworth? Want to help create more opportunities that bring people together and make our parks, trails and public spaces even better? The City of Ellsworth is looking for two people to join the Recreation Commission and we’d love to hear from you.
The Recreation Commission promotes recreational activities throughout Ellsworth and works with area groups and organizations to encourage activities in the community and at City-owned recreational facilities.
Commission members can help provide ideas and feedback, identify community needs, and support the work of Ellsworth Parks & Recreation. Current and potential projects include community events such as the annual Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting, Fire & Ice Festival and Play It Forward, as well as opportunities to help maintain and develop trails and organize cleanup days at places such as Card Brook and Branch Lake Public Forest.
And there’s room to do even more. If you’re someone who has thought, “Wouldn’t it be great if Ellsworth had…?” this might be your opportunity to help turn an idea into something meaningful for the community.
What’s the commitment?
Commission members serve two-year terms and meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 8:30–10 a.m. at Ellsworth City Hall. In-person attendance is preferred, although remote participation may be permitted by the Chair when warranted.
Members must be willing to commit to attending meetings. A majority of the Commission’s members must be Ellsworth residents.
