Winter Parking Ban has been declared by our Public Works Department for the following time and date so the crew can continue snow operations from the most recent storm.

During recent snow events, city plow trucks have faced difficulties navigating streets due to vehicles being left parked, making snow removal more challenging. As snowbanks grow with each storm, it becomes even more critical for plow trucks to have clear access. Therefore, it is essential for all residents and visitors to remember that during a winter parking ban for snow removal, parking is prohibited on ALL public streets, ways, and city-owned parking areas, including downtown and beyond.

For those who cannot park elsewhere during this time, temporary parking is allowed in the center spots of the Lower City Hall parking lot (see map; acceptable parking areas are shaded in green).

Any vehicle left on a public street, way, or city-owned parking area during snow removal operations may be subject to towing at the discretion of the Ellsworth Police Department. It is crucial to move cars ahead of snow removal operations so streets can be kept clear.

Important reminder for those clearing snow, Public Works reminds residents not to plow, blow, or shovel snow from their property onto the street. Depositing snow on public roads is prohibited by state law and poses a safety hazard by increasing risks for drivers and potentially obstructing traffic.
