What a day. Saturday, May 9, 2026!

Under sunny skies on Saturday, 42 volunteers came together for the 2026 Card Brook Clean Up Day and the results were incredible.

Armed with gloves, safety vests, trash pickers, and a shared sense of community pride, volunteers spread out across the Card Brook area and collected an astounding 800 pounds of trash. From roadsides to waterways, participants worked side-by-side to help protect and improve one of Ellsworth’s important natural spaces.

The event brought together residents, community groups, local businesses, nonprofits, and public partners … all united around one goal: caring for Ellsworth. Following the cleanup, volunteers gathered at the Ellsworth Moose Lodge for a well-earned lunch and time together after a morning of hard work and muddy boots.

The City of Ellsworth extends a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer, sponsor, and partner who helped make the event such a success, including:

  • Ellsworth Moose Lodge
  • Frenchman Bay Conservancy
  • Downeast Trout Unlimited
  • Bangor Pipe & Supply
  • Bangor Savings Bank
  • Hammond Lumber Company
  • The First National Bank
  • Maine DOT
  • Martha’s Diner
  • Renys
  • K&B Auto
  • And many more supporters who helped bring the day together.

Special thanks as well to the organizers and everyone who helped coordinate the event from start to finish. Events like this are a reminder that community pride is not just something we talk about in Ellsworth, it’s something we show up for.
