Notice of Public Workshop
Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at 6:00 PM
There will be a public workshop on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at 6:00 pm in the Fire Department Training Room at Ellsworth City Hall for a presentation by Woodard & Curran to City Council and staff on the Ellsworth storm water infrastructure.
Woodard & Curran, in collaboration with Vortex and the City, recently completed a thorough mapping and assessment of some of the City’s storm drainage systems. They documented the condition of the storm drainage infrastructure including identifying and cataloging storm drain lines, catch basins, and manholes while assessing their conditions, and making recommendations for improvements. The work identified what the pipes are made of: concrete, corrugated metal, clay or plastic along with pipe dimensions and flow capacity in the areas investigated. This work included identifying what will be needed downstream of the upcoming Oak Street reconstruction project. The work has also provided the City with real-time videos/photographs of the current condition and provided valuable insight into what is required in our future system. This work presents a comprehensive understanding of our storm drainage system considering both the structural integrity aspects, sizing for future storm events and includes sustainable storm water management practices. The work provides the City with actionable insights to inform the decisions regarding maintenance, upgrades, and future planning for our critical drainage infrastructure.
