December 30, 2024 in Agenda Notices, City Council Notices

There will be a public workshop on Thursday, January 16th at 6:30PM in the Council Chamber at Ellsworth City Hall for a presentation by Woodard & Curran to City Council and staff on the proposed new Drinking Water Treatment Facility.

The existing treatment facility suffers from age-related deterioration and has known compliance issues that must be resolved. Over the past several years, the city has taken steps to plan for this significant and necessary capital improvement by soliciting funding and evaluating alternative treatment technologies. This presentation will summarize the current condition and compliance challenges at the existing facility, the work that has been completed to date, and the proposed next steps towards a new Drinking Water Treatment Facility that can supply safe drinking water to Ellsworth residents now and into the future. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how this facility will address water quality, including the disinfection by-products recently discussed in a mailing to water customers.

If you would like to submit a question ahead of the workshop you can do so here: https://www.ellsworthmaine.gov/water-workshop/ . Please submit questions by January 9th. We will strive to review and address questions related to this topic during the meeting.
