Annual Ellsworth Roadside Clean-Up

Beginning on Saturday April 19, 2025 the Ellsworth Green Action Team, an active part of Green Ellsworth, will host the eighth annual citywide Roadside Clean-up.  The week-long event will run from Saturday, April 19 through Saturday, April 26. Interested participants can pick up free yellow trash bags and sign-up for road segments in advance at City Hall during regular business hours, beginning Monday April 14. All participants should wear boots, work gloves, and bright clothing. Trash bags can be left on the road shoulder in safe but visible locations. Please report the location and number of trash bags to the City Clerk’s Office at 207-669-6603 for disposal by Ellsworth Public Works.

If you choose to pick up yellow trash bags and sign-up for road segments in advance, please do not leave trash bags on the side of the road until the beginning of the event on Saturday, April 19. Participants are encouraged to separate trash and redeemable bottles and cans into separate bags. Redeemable bottles and cans may be donated to the SPCA of Hancock County located at 141 Bar Harbor Road in Trenton.

It is recommended that participants do not fill the trash bags to their maximum capacity out of consideration for Ellsworth Public Works employees who need to handle them. Please remember not to pick up broken glass or other dangerous items.
