Recently, the City of Ellsworth elections team received two boxes of absentee ballots from the State of Maine. One of the boxes contained fewer ballots than the number allocated for delivery. The city immediately notified the Maine Secretary of State’s Office and requested further guidance. The State subsequently initiated an official investigation which we have been fully cooperating with. While that investigation is ongoing, the City cannot provide additional details. The City of Ellsworth is committed to maintaining election integrity and looks forward to the results of the investigation.
