We have a bit of a recycling hiccup to share.

The cardboard baler at the Ellsworth Transfer Station is currently out of service. While our team works to get the equipment repaired, we are temporarily unable to accept cardboard for recycling until further notice.

We know this is an inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience while we work to get things back up and running.

What should I do with my cardboard in the meantime you might ask …?
If you are able to hold onto your cardboard until service resumes, a little prep can help keep it manageable:

  • Break down and flatten boxes to save space.
  • Keep cardboard clean and dry.
  • Store flattened cardboard in a garage, shed or other dry, covered location, if possible.
  • Consider placing flattened boxes inside one larger cardboard box to keep everything together.

Please do not leave cardboard at the Transfer Station while cardboard collection is paused.

This is a temporary interruption only. We will let the community know as soon as the baler is back in service and we can begin accepting cardboard again.

Thank you for your patience — and for continuing to recycle!
