April 18–25, 2026 is our Annual Citywide Roadside Clean-Up!
Beginning this Saturday, April 18, the City of Ellsworth will host the Citywide Roadside Clean-Up. This week-long volunteer effort runs through Saturday, April 25, 2026.
Participants may sign up for road segments and pick up free yellow trash bags at Ellsworth City Hall during regular business hours (Monday through Thursday, 7 am – 6 pm) beginning today, Monday, April 13. Clean up officially starts on Saturday, April 18 and bags will be picked up starting Saturday, April 18.
Volunteers are asked to wear boots, work gloves, and bright or reflective clothing. Filled trash bags should be placed on the roadside in safe, visible locations. Participants must report the number and location of bags to the City Clerk’s Office at 207-669-6603 so they can be collected by Ellsworth Public Works.
To assist Public Works crews, volunteers are encouraged not to overfill bags and to avoid collecting broken glass or hazardous materials. Participants are also encouraged to separate redeemable bottles and cans, which may be donated to the SPCA of Hancock County at 141 Bar Harbor Road in Trenton.
