Celebrating the Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week
Ellsworth, ME, April 18, 2023 – A proclamation issued by the City of Ellsworth on April 10, 2023 at the City Council meeting resolved that the week of April 30-May 6, 2023, is designated as “Professional Municipal Clerks Week,” in Ellsworth.
In celebration of this week, the City of Ellsworth invites the public to stop by for Coffee with the Clerks at City Hall on May 5, 2023, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. This is a great opportunity to enjoy a coffee, chat, and ask questions about the duties of the municipal clerk and function of local government. The City recognizes the vital services that City Clerks Toni Dyer, Marcia Monk and KaTina Vanadestine provide and hopes the community will join us in showing appreciation.
One of local government’s oldest positons, it is important to recognize and raise public awareness of this profession. As stated in the proclamation, the clerk “provides the professional link between the citizens, the local governing bodies and agencies of the government at other levels.”
The proclamation marks the 54th annual celebration initiated by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) in 1969 and is recognized throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries.
