The City of Ellsworth has hired a new Planner. As of February 1, 2021, Elena Piekut will be the City of Ellsworth’s new Planner. Elena will be transferring from Dover, New Hampshire where she is an Assistant City Planner and Zoning Administrator. She previously worked for the City of Ellsworth in 2012-2015 under former City Planner Michelle Gagnon as the Assistant to the City Planner.

Elena possess a bachelors in Human Ecology with coursework in architectural design, land use planning, conservation policy, and community development from the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor.

She has extensive experience in land use planning, grant writing, GIS mapping, Zoning, Environmental policy and community services.

In Dover, a City of 32,000, she has been a primary contact for developers, residents and consultants with responsibility in administration and enforcement of their zoning regulations. She has worked on projects with the Energy Commission and University of New Hampshire.

We are looking forward to Elena’s start and know her extensive background will lend itself to the goals and forward movement of Ellsworth.
