Ellsworth City Council Names Charles Pearce City Manager

February 27, 2024

Ellsworth, ME – On Monday, February 26, 2024, the Ellsworth City Council announced the appointment of Charles Pearce as the incoming City Manager for the City of Ellsworth, Maine. Mr. Pearce accepted the offer and the City Council will ratify his contract at the March 18 City Council meeting. Commencing his duties on April 1, 2024, Mr. Pearce will benefit from the guidance and support of the current City Manager, Glenn Moshier, who will actively participate in facilitating a smooth transition.

Last fall, City Council members meticulously reviewed applications from over thirty candidates for the City Manager position. Following this evaluation, finalists underwent interviews, and Mr. Pearce was subsequently invited to the City in early February for a comprehensive council interview, as well as meetings with staff and the community.

With a recent Master’s in Public Administration degree from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, coupled with his work background in management positions within the Massachusetts state government, and a strong knowledge of the local area, the City Council found that Mr. Pearce’s qualifications align with their goal to guide Ellsworth thoughtfully into the future.

The City of Ellsworth extends its deepest gratitude to Glenn Moshier for his outstanding service over the past three years as City Manager and his twenty years with the City. We recognize and commend the exceptional job he has done in his role. His decision to play a key role in this transitional phase speaks volumes about his dedication to the city and its continued success.
