If your lawn is looking a little crispy these days, you’re not alone. Dry conditions continue across Hancock County, and with drought conditions persisting in our region, lets all be mindful of water use and conserve where they can.
This is not an emergency water conservation notice. It’s simply a request to use water thoughtfully while our region continues to experience unusually dry conditions.
A Few Easy Ways to Help
Small changes can add up:
- Hold off on watering lawns when possible.
- Water gardens early in the morning or later in the evening to reduce evaporation.
- Wait until you have a full load before running the dishwasher or washing machine.
- Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth.
- Fix dripping faucets or other leaks.
- Skip washing the car for now — a little dust won’t hurt!
- Be thoughtful about other nonessential uses of water.
These may seem like small things, but when an entire community participates, they can make a difference. And don’t forget, saving water cuts down on your water bill!
