On January 24, 2025, at 7:24 PM the Ellsworth Police Department received a report of a car/pedestrian crash on the Bangor Road at the intersection of Shore Road. Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arriving on scene medical care was provided to the pedestrian, but ultimately efforts were not successful, and the pedestrian succumbed to injuries sustained from the crash.
The incident is being investigated by the Ellsworth Police Department. A crash reconstruction is being completed.

A 2017 Toyota Camry heading South on the Bangor Road, operated by Mr. Robert Tallent (68) of Surry, struck a pedestrian, Mr. James Card (74) of Ellsworth. Mr. Card was in the southbound travel lane of the roadway. Investigators believe Mr. Card was picking up tools which had fallen from his own vehicle. Mr. Card’s vehicle was parked at the intersection of Bangor Road and Shore Road. Mr. Tallent was uninjured and the only occupant in his vehicle.
This crash remains under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the report will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office.
Assisting at the crash were Ellsworth Fire Department, Northern Lights Ambulance, and Hancock County Sheriff’s Office.
