Upcoming Night Work Project in Ellsworth

The Maine Department of Transportation (Maine DOT) will begin a Night Work Project along Routes 1, 1A, and 3 in Ellsworth, starting Sunday, April 6, and continuing through approximately August. Work will take place nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Project Locations:

  • State Street (near the YMCA)
  • Oak Street (between Church St. & Main St.)
  • High Street (ending near Pat’s Pizza)
  • Myrick Street
  • Downeast Highway (ending near Darling’s)

The project will begin near the Ellsworth YMCA on State Street and progress south in phases. The first phase involves lowering structures (such as manholes) along the routes, which may cause temporary nighttime noise in each area as crews move through. The second phase will involve grinding the roadway, followed by paving.

Drivers are urged to use extra caution at night while work is ongoing.
