This week, communities across the country are recognizing National EMS Week, a time dedicated to honoring the EMTs, paramedics, and emergency medical professionals who answer the call and often during life’s hardest moments. National EMS Week runs from May 17–23, 2026.
Here in Ellsworth, this recognition feels especially meaningful.
In recent days, our EMS professionals, firefighters, dispatchers, law enforcement officers, and neighboring mutual aid partners have responded to difficult and emotional emergencies that have deeply impacted our community. Through it all, they have continued to show compassion, professionalism, strength, and care for the people they serve.
The City of Ellsworth would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Ellsworth Fire Department EMS team and to all emergency responders who step forward when our community needs them most. These are the people who walk into uncertainty, who comfort families, who provide lifesaving care, and who carry the emotional weight of difficult calls long after the sirens are silent.
Their work is not easy. Their dedication does not go unnoticed.
We also recognize and thank the families behind our EMS personnel. Thank you to the loved ones who support them through long shifts, interrupted holidays, sleepless nights, and emotionally demanding days.
To every EMT, paramedic, firefighter, dispatcher, law enforcement officer, and emergency responder serving Ellsworth and our surrounding communities: thank you for your service, your compassion, and your commitment to caring for others.
Ellsworth is grateful for you.
