City of Ellsworth Appoints Amy Kenney as Incoming Communications Director
Ellsworth, ME — The City of Ellsworth is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Kenney as Communications Director, effective October 20, 2025. Kenney will lead the City’s public information, media relations, brand and digital strategy, and community engagement during a period of significant growth and modernization.
Kenney brings 25+ years of leadership in marketing, communications, and public/media relations, most recently serving as Director of Marketing and Communications at Northern Light Health. She has led strategic communications across internal and external channels, cultivated strong statewide media relationships, and translated complex policy into clear, accessible public messaging for diverse audiences.
“Amy is exactly the communications leader Ellsworth needs right now,” said City Manager Charlie Pearce. “Her experience building trusted relationships, delivering clear public information, and elevating community stories will help us communicate effectively with residents and partners while showcasing the City’s momentum.”
As Communications Director, Kenney will serve as the City’s Public Information Officer (PIO); direct media strategy; lead the redesign of the City’s website to improve user experience and accessibility; manage citywide social media and digital campaigns; launch a new online community calendar and City newsletter; and strengthen internal communications, and transparency. She will also collaborate closely with the Economic Development Department to promote business attraction and community investment.
“It’s a privilege to join the Ellsworth team and at such an exciting time,” said Amy Kenney. “The energy here is contagious, and I’m eager to help tell Ellsworth’s story – one that celebrates both its momentum and its deep sense of community.”
Kenney will be based at Ellsworth City Hall, partnering across departments and with community organizations to align messages, expand access to information, and support Ellsworth’s forward-looking agenda. The City is thrilled to have her join the team and looks forward to introducing her to the community in the weeks ahead.
